Miguel Uses Stage At Pitchfork Festival To Speak On Police Brutality

As the news of police brutality continues to dominate headlines and timelines, Grammy Award winning singer Miguel once again took the time speak on the current state of affairs.

While at Chicago’s Union Park for the Pitchfork Music Festival, Miguel took time to express the need for people to take action “I’m tired of human lives turned into hashtags and prayer hands.” Then he continued passionately. “Just remember, we’re in a paradigm shift,” he said. “We are facing ourselves as a nation, as a race of humans, we are facing our worst habits. And it’s time. It is time now to make a difference. It is time now to act or change, because we all have the possibility of having and raising our very own children who can possibly die innocently. We gotta change this shit now, you hear what I’m saying?”

Just last month at the Wireless Festival in London the singer made similar statements, joining a growing list of celebrities who have spoken out including Beyoncé, Boosie Badazz, Carmelo Anthony, Pharrell, John Legend and more. These current acts of violence against civilians have brought Black and Brown relations ever so close as just last month, 10 organizations stood shoulder to shoulder in Los Angeles most notably members of the Brown Berets, the Nation of Islam and Workers World Party.
