Kevin Gates Gets 6 Months In Jail For Kicking Teen Fan
Kevin Gates is going away for six months. The Baton Rouge rapper got sentenced to 180 days in jail for kicking a fan back in 2014 in a Tampa Bay, FL nightclub.
Per Fox 13, Gates was sentenced to 180 days in a Polk County jail after being found guilty of kicking the fan, who tugged at his shorts. The judge also blessed Gates with a year of probation.
Interestingly, the prosecutors had only requested a 60-day sentence.
The incident was caught on tape, and yeah, there was no real way to defend his actions. After the initial incident, he said the kick was “self-defense.” The jury was made up of six white women, and Gates being dressed like a clean cut member of the Nation of Islam clearly wasn’t a factor. The face tattoos were probably no help, too—if we’re keeping it 100.
This isn’t the end of Gates’ struggle since the victim is pursuing a civil lawsuit where she will be seeking damages for her pain and suffering.
Gates was immediately taken into custody after the sentencing.
